Sorry and all that, but I have to admit I laughed at bandito's comment. This forum is more like the Wild West than the kinder, gentler East Coast salons of the 'other place'. You have to accept that the saddlebums are going to come gunning for you now and then and not be too prissy about shooting back. Adopting an aggrieved air and a disappointed frown won't cut it.

And just by the way, as a simple experiment will confirm, 11,111 hits does not equate to 11,111 views. Simply clicking the link or reloading the page registers a hit. It's no doubt the reason why Music Suck's utterly execrable UJB 'movie' has exceeded 72,000 hits.

Yeah, I wondered about that. When I do that, though, I don't get a one-to-one correlation between reloads and a single other hit. Anyway, I'm assuming it's had quite a number of views (what with being seriously funny, after all), but that the site doesn't count individual IP addresses (which I think YouTube does), so there's no way to know how many people have viewed it.

I didn't bother with that other video, but ... really? 72,000 views? You mean someone actually sat at their computer and clicked their own thing maybe 71,995 times? Now, that's serious commitment.

Hey Rose--if you were serious about that, and around here one could be (ie, real Rob or immitation Rob? er--what a bizarre thought now that I think of it), you can always click on his "handle" to the right on the "big board" and all his posts will come up...if it doesn't show back to 06, then it's not "real Rob" (but the trick to do that would be difficult with his handle anyhow).

If you were just joking, uh...nevermind!

Well, I do live in a place where they sell Clavin Klain pants, there's a grungy hole-in-the-wall restaurant around here called KFC (small letters: Kwality Food Cafe, which I doubt), and yesterday at the market stalls by my street I spotted a pair of running shoes with a swoosh and the label "Ake." Ake shoes. I want a pair.

So ... gotta be careful ... his handle could be a knockoff, and who'd know? Except, of course, by a certain quality to the writing.

Hey, it's all I do here...my posts do read like stream of (un)consciousness, eh? Just picture me on a couch, pouring it all out: "yes...my brothers gave me the DEAD's first album, and then told me they weren't any good. I've never gotten over it; then, there was this girl in 8th grade, and..."

Well, maybe.

I can let loose the dogs of war , but what would that accomplish ? Maybe that would be more acceptable then an aggrieved air and a disappointed frown ? I choose not to shoot back , and that restraint does not contain any prissiness . It's easy to flame away . It's not so easy to hold one's fire .
But that's just me .

It is actually let slip the dogs of war from Willie . My bad .

Marcus Antonius:
And Caesar's spirit, raging for revenge,
With Ate by his side come hot from hell,
Shall in these confines with a monarch's voice
Cry "Havoc!" and let slip the dogs of war,
That this foul deed shall smell above the earth
With carrion men, groaning for burial.
Julius Caesar Act 3, scene 1, 270–275

Stand or fall, live or die (Stand)
Strong and true to the end (Now)
Fly the flag, let them see (Sky)
We will never bend the knee (Don't fail)
We are the last of all (Here)
If we give way we lose (No)
So can you stand with me? (We can)
Will you now pay your dues (Hai)
The tales they tell, of how we stand this day
We that defend our cause
Will last a thousand years
Come now the dogs of war

Break or hold, die or kill (Live)
Try or fail, or succeed (Fight)
We must be an iron wall (Hold)
When the heart receives the call (We go)
We are the least of them (Fight)
We are few, but we are brave (Yes)
So can you stand with me (We Will)
If it leads you to your grave (Hai)

The tales they tell, of how we stood this day
We few that know the law
Will last a thousand years
Hear now the dogs of war

Sun is set, darkness falls (See)
Now comes the enemy (Beware)
Draw sword and shield defy (Hai)
All their wives must scream and cry (Stand fast)
We are the last hope now (Last)
Of all our people fair, so will you die with me (We do)
Will you now do your share (Hai)

The tales they tell, of what we do this day
We that guard the door
WIll last a thousand years
Let go the dogs of war

Too many puppies are being shot in the dark.
Too many puppies are trained not to bark.
At the sight of blood that must be spilled
so that we may maintain our oil fields.

Too many puppies(x2)
Too many puppies are taught to heel.
Too many puppies are trained to kill.

On the command of men wearing money belts
that buy mistresses sleek animal pelts.

Too many puppies.(x4)
Too many puppies with guns in their hands.
Too many puppies in foreign lands.

Are dressed up sharp in suits of green and
Placed upon the war machine.

Too many puppies are just like me.
Too many puppies are afraid to see.
The visions of the past brought to life again,
Too many puppies, too many dead men.

"Too Many Puppies" is a single from the band Primus and the second single from their 1990 studio debut album Frizzle Fry. It was the first Primus song bassist and lead singer Les Claypool ever composed. A reworked version featuring second drummer Bryan "Brain" Mantia can be found on their Rhinoplasty EP.
The song is mostly about the band's reflection on war, and how many soldiers are too young to go off to war, parodying the idea of "the dogs of war" by claiming the dogs are merely puppies. The song was written shortly before the first Persian Gulf War and was about violence in the Middle East during that time period.
A video was in production for this song, but the project was cancelled when Primus was signed to Interscope Records. The video has been a rarity until 2003, when it was released on Animals Should Not Try to Act Like People.
Occasionally, when playing the song live, Les Claypool played the opening riff of Metallica's "Master of Puppets" as a bridge before the final verse.

Actually I think this site is not Wild West, it is often more just plain Eastern Seaboard obnoxious, rude and juvenile. I live in the West, western side of Northern Rockies. Too much jabbering and name calling by many here to be westerners. But you all sure know lots about the Grateful Dead.
